Shakedown and Swiper ran 3.2 miles across the river and back today in the muggy mid day haze. As per usual, Sugar Sock was sighted on a walk. Nothing much more to report though it’s always good to converse with Swiper. Come run with us soon

https://youtu.be/Xf3mRZ7SHu0 According to Phineas and Ferb, there are 104 days of summer.  What a better way to spend the summer than challenging yourself to visit all 24 F3 RVA AOs.  Although procrastinators can wait as late as August 6 to start, it would be best to spread this challenge out over the entire summer.  Once you complete the tour, you will have done the following: 14 bootcamps 7 runs including a trail run and evening run 2 Kettle Bell workouts 1 bike ride Don’t let not having a kettle bell or bike prevent you from participating in this challenge.  Borrow…

85 degrees and 50% humidity greeted us today as three of set out for a (approximate) 3 mile lunchtime downtown run. We, being gloom warriors, are more used to pre-dawn conditions and we aren’t quite used to seeing the sun since it’s been hiding recently. Nevertheless we set off for a fairly standard run, though a little slow considering our attempts to acclimate and since Lab Rat isn’t feeling quite himself. No speed records were set but it was nice to have Swiper along and to see Sugar Sock on the bridge. The more the merrier so if you can,…

2 SOJ faithful either started or ended their week by logging some miles, depending on whether you subscribe to the generally accepted ‘Merican way or to the international standard ISO 8601.  Either way you slice it, miles were laid down, fellowship was enjoyed and the gloom was glorious. YHC responded to Rosie’s text last night with an “In” so there was no choice when the alarm beckoned at 0530.  Time to roll, baby.  YHC and Rosie pulled into the AO within seconds of each other, greetings and let’s get going.  The customary loop through the Grove, back under N. Woolridge, around…

One pax by land went to find the other 2 pax by sea…ok, we were on land also….but poetic license and stuff.  He did not, but he gets credit for the attempt. Route:  The two by sea drifted by the currents down the hill to meet up with “friend of Shakedown” for a handoff of substances….we both sampled said substances and tested it out across the Mayo Bridge, T. Potter, pipeline, then up the hill to touch Washington for around 4 miles and extra steps not GPS compatible.  Wheelbarrow came up with his own route. NMS:  Wheelbarrow texted Lab Rat…

A pax of 1 kicked off the unofficially unofficial summertime classic….the “Before Noon DeLite”! Route:  Broad to 14th, across Mayo Bridge to the floodwall.  Over to T. Potter, across Pipeline (carefully, water is up!) then back up the hill to the Washington Monument at the Capital.  3.62 miles by the only Garmin present. NMS:  Shakedown and I have been running this route or something similar for the past few months and we finally pinned down Wednesday as THE day to run it only last week.  Of course, on the inaugural running after inviting others, he was a no-show due to…

3 SOJ posted on a cool April morning with some snow lingering on the ground and vehicles.  Flatline joined the regulars to get a few miles under our belts less than a week before the CSAUP.  Straight up the Woolridge hill into the wind and into Midlothian, take Salisbury Road onto the dirt road and into Salisbury.  Small loop up to Winterfield and back to Charter Colony and the VSF. Only 3 PAX the attire was varied with Flatline going short sleeves and Honeymoon going full winter jacket,  YHC split the middle with sleeves but sans jacket.  Flatline wasn’t digging…

The Easter Bunny hit a couple SOJ houses a day early due to travel plans so two runners hit the streets of OTB to get some early miles in. A loop through the Grove, Mines and Village and 5+ miles.  Honeymoon, after nursing a sore calf for a few weeks was back close to full strength and hitting a good pace through the last half of the run.  Both of us were hitting the road later in the morning but had enough time before the families arose to get a few miles in. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter with…

A group of 3 set out on the normal OTB route through the Grove, Midlothian Mines park and into the Village.  Honeymoon and Longhorn turned back at about 4 with some early morning obligations and YHC kept on to get a few more through Salisbury. No post run 2nd F this week but plenty of discussion about the upcoming CSAUP during the run.  Thanks to Honeymoon and Longhorn for meeting me out there.

YHC missed an early morning bailout text canceling the other half of the planned participation in the Off The Books run.  YHC showed up early anyway with a new route option in mind.  The new route took me into Salisbury and some old haunting grounds.  Looking forward to showing that one off soon. OTB will be on most weekends leading up to the CSAUP for those SOJ or anyone that wants to get started earlier.  Check with YHC or Honeymoon to verify. Have a great week.
