A sweet sixteen of RVA’s Pax came out to experience a flat run around a lake. Instead it was uphill both ways. YHC called the Kingpin route and off we went. Take the secret trail up Roselawn to Towana and hang a right on the access road in front of Three Chopt. Take a left on Grove and a right on Granite to Cary. A quick left and immediate right on Tempsford. Begin running down the hill. 4s turn around at the Y. 5s do both legs. 6s do both legs twice. Retrace your steps home. TYA took us out…

Fourteen noble steeds emerged from their chariots eagerly awaiting a Splinter Q. Everyone huddled around before YHC asked, “who has the Q”. Upon realization of YHCs negligence, we settled upon Mount Henrico. Off we went with little instructions and only the simple question, “do you know where you are going?” 4s, 5s, and 6s were bountiful. Huddle up for numbers, names and TYA insisted on taking us out with his recommendation not to rely on GPS. Good thing it wasn’t designed for military use where precision is important. Saab appropriately interjected with his support for high priced athletic tracking gear.…

9 strong posted this morning for Spider Run and here is how it went down. 4 milers – out of campus across the bridge and back. 5 milers – out of campus across bridge to rock falls and back 6 milers – out of campus across the bridge to rock falls up the hill and back. Nice humid morning for a run. We were missing some of our regulars because of last nights game – Congrats to all our UVA alum and fans ! Send positive thoughts Toto’s way as he goes through his review today and his mom looks…

There’s a first time for everything… first Q, and first time the PAX did more burpees than miles on a Spider Run day. Spirits were high for the mystery workout in memory of a dear friend (and Handshake’s old roommate!), on what would have been his 35th birthday. To learn more about the inspiration for today’s festivities, see here for the link. Here is how it all went down. The PAX moseyed on over to the rally point near the bottom of the biggest hill Spider Run has to offer. YHC previously marked out 12 spots on the Bostwick hill,…

16 able-bodied men posted for some miles (15 remained so). Instructions were given, street name pronunciations were corrected and damnit, YHC still can’t find the correct exit off the trail onto the road. In any event, it was Sunny and 70, perfect conditions for some miles and some fellowship. The routes were as follows: 6 Milers – head up by the baseball field and past the Robbins Center and jump onto Bandy Rd to Three Chopt. Take Three Chopt to Patterson. Patterson to WestHAM Pkwy. Left on WestHAM Pkwy and follow that all the way across River Rd (cross either…

13 rambunctious warriors bolted out of the fartsack this morning to take a quick jog. Route was up the hill to the main entrance, right up the hill to Cary, back down the hill to the main entrance, up Boatright to three chopt. Repeat as many times as possible. Traffic was heavy this morning. Especially on Boatright. YHC had to bail out to the woods a couple of times. The route was great as it had good elevation change and was a mile end to end. Last week during spring break would have been the time to hit this route.…

Thirteen brave soles emerged from their car’s, some expecting a Lockjaw Q. Alas, they received a Splinter Q tribute to Lockjaw but in reverse/inverted/backwards order. It went something like this: Reverse Pitchfork4 miles – Out river road exit, through RR shopping center, down Westham Station, up S. Ridge to the light. Return to the start 5 miles – Same as 4 but on the way back hit Old Bridge to Highland 6 miles – Same as 5 but also add on the other section of Old Bridge and add Panorama. There were a few 5+ folks that skipped the second…

A loquacious eleven presented themselves for a classic multi-fingered spider run. Each finger represented a hill-route up toward Three-chopt road. Those involved chose the number they were comfortable with, but everyone got at least 3 in. Sippy introduced YHC to an additional finger. It was tough to take in the tail-end of the run, but it will definitely be added to the repetoire…it was a real burner. YHC found today how the pax continues to develop and improve. Everyone completed the legs in a faster time than they had before. I will need to add more mileage to such routes…much…

14 Proven Road Warriors showed up to Spider Run to move our legs and start the day off in the most awesome way. 0527-Route explained. Run through UR back to the entrance on River Road and across River Road Shopping Center. Cross Huguenot Bridge, Southbound, and exit onto Riverside Drive. L on Riverside and R on Southampton and R on Riverside again. 4 milers, about face at this point. Now original route was Riverside Dr into Hickory to Old Gun for 5 milers and 6 milers took Hickory all the way to Elm. However, within 1/4 mile on Riverside…..ROAD CLOSED,…

A lucky 13 came out for a full moon run. The Kanawha route was called and off we went with 5 and 6 mile options. A 4 mile option was invoked by several as well. Swirly took us out. The Moleskin A lot of double takes this morning. First, BT came in with Sippy to the start of the run prompting TYA to state how much Bootleg has changed in the last week. TYA and Saab dressed alike with only the glasses differentiating them. Finally, there was a Keymaster sighting in the darkest of roads. However, it cannot be confirmed…
