Always 70 and Sunny

The Trout and I met up on a not so sunny and 70 degree morning. I locked my keys in the car so it wasn’t a great start. Mechanicsville EM has a lot of covered sidewalks so there was plenty of room to work out in the dry. We started off with a few laps around the courtyard sidewalks followed by arm circles, side straddle hops, lbc’s and merkins. Thanks to Corned Beef, I have learned that a Tabata is perfect for a rainy or snowy day with limited space. We did 36 minutes, including 8 cycles of 9 exercises.…

6 Men showed up for a rainy beat down which turned into a ground and pound. COP Triple Check – audible to the covered canopy for shelter. Ring of fire dealers choice. Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out!

5 fleet footed faithful came out in search of 60 degree temps. None to be found but 5+ miles and ample hills were waiting: From Hoedown – Down to UofR and up past stadium, then up college and weave through neighborhood until ending up on the road next to CCV. Back through campus and up long University hill. Turn to cut through Kanawha and then back. 5.3 miles. NMS: Good to have Kubota out at a run. He used the run to weigh the schooling options while others had ample chatter. Upchuck posed the question: how does one say hi…

5 Davillians brave the rain and cold weather to get in the hour long workout in for the week. This how it went down Pre Run – YHC got in a 5k starting at 6 since he can’t join the New Market PAX tomorrow for the GLOW for Galactosemia tomorrow We got started at 6:31 since we waited for Bulkhead and mosey to the island on the bus loop COP (ALL IC) – SSH, DQ, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, LBC’s, American Hammers, Alternating Shoulder Taps, HRM’s, Arm Circles THANG Catch Me If You Can – Using the outer bus loop, one…

12 mudders entered the paddock for today’s edition of The Dogpile. Temperatures soared to 70 and sunny throughout the Beatdown. According to the worms slinking across Wilbon Street, the following is a gender-neutral summary of the Beatdown: Hot Potato Q called, YHC took the lead. Mosey to the Carillon’s front porch for: SSHs x30IW’s x10DQ’s (Abe Vegoda-style) x10Dead Man Hang (in silence) x1Inverted Scorpion Kicks x (no one counted)Alabama Prom Dates x5 (Gomer finished quickly. Sometimes that happens.)HRMs x10 While the PAX was conducting this round, Hardywood’s farm welcomed another lamb. Hitchhiker Q: Mosey to the bottom of Rugby Road…

4 horsemen rode forth to patrol the Earth while the locals slept soundly during today’s version of Breakfast Club. Temperatures continued at an unseasonably warm sunny and 70. According to the wild beasts roaming in Byrd Park, the PAX took the following route: Start at Early Bird, south on Robinson, left on Lakeview, right on Lake, continue as the name changes to Shields Lake, left on Shirley, right to stay on Shirley, jog across Park (ahem, Gomer) to attempt surprise Swirly in his truck (op unsuccessful – target fully aware of PAX approach). Continue to near circle and reverso back…

8 mature warriors braved the rain to make it out to Gridiron. For whatever reason, it rains 2/3 of the time that Fireman Ed Q’s at Gridiron (or about 4 times as often as the Jets win). A PAX called me the Weatherman so I made it the title of todays backblast. After checking to see if White Deer was going to make it (and to Attila’s dismay he did not), the workout went like this: COP: 10 Russian Soldiers, 7 DQs, 10 Helicopters and 10 merkins. Mosey to the bus loop (one of the very few covered areas in…

7 men met on a beautiful February morning. It was 34 but no wind and a huge moon. At 5:30 sharp we jogged to the parking lot to warmup. Warmup: Arm Circles, Side Straddle Hops, Hand Release Merkins, LBC’s and Tippy Toes. Headed to the corner of the parking lot for 3 sets of triple checks. Everyone partnered up (Due to the odd number, the Q shadowed Corned Beef). First round 100 Merkins, 200 Money Humpers and 300 Heals to Heaven. Second round 80 Boat Canoes, 200 Helix Squats and 300 Shoulder Taps. Third round 100 merkins, 200 Should Taps…

A very lucky 13 came out to hit the roads. The weather was awesome and the mumble chatter keeps on flowing as the miles pass. YHC admits that he didn’t have a creative route in mind. Instead I went with simplicity. West on Grove, right on Maple, East on Patterson. 4s turn on Sauer, 5s on Hamilton, and 6s on Cleveland with all returning via Grove. YHC took us out.
