Join us at 7am on Monday 5/29 at Belle Isle for our annual Memorial day Convergence. We will do a beatdown finishing at the War Memorial and have coffee and bagel fellowship after. Remember that May is FNG month. Bring an FNG out this month and get him to the convergence. Special prize to the region with the most FNGs and to the top recruiter.

Tomorrow’s Punisher will start at the normal time (6:30PM) at the normal place (Linwood Holton ES). But, it take the form of a pub crawl/run. Please wear running clothes and shoes and bring cash or a credit card. We have not finalized the routes yet, but it will be fairly short (no more than 3 mi in all). Also, we will not venture far afield in case people need to head out early.  Thanks, Jville P.S.:  This is a rain or shine event.  Planned route is 3.3 miles in total with 2 stops.  Here it is: Leg 1:  Start at…

Fourteen road warriors (and lots of us believe there were bikers, but no sign of them at the end) pulled on their running galoshes and hit the mostly ice-free streets for a Friday morning Run At Mary Munford.  Chit-chat at the water cooler suggests this might be what happened: Routes: East on Grove… …4 milers, right on Shields. …5 milers, right on Vine. …6 milers, right on Park, then right on Laurel. …all runners, right on Floyd, then right on Nansemond, and left on Grove.  Straight on ’til dawn. Number-a-ma, Name-a-rama, MARV took us out (sponsored by the VCU Sports…

A duo of kayakers arrived at Huguenot Flatwater to enjoy reasonable water levels and an escape from the heat. Upon departure, we headed to the north bank where a nice beach had formed.  Worth exploring next time. We kayaked upstream to the dam and checked out the fish ladder and the semi-blocked portage on the other side.  We chatted with a couple of kayakers who were hauling heavy boats over the portage path.  It was a team of father and young son who were on mile 93 of a 100 mile journey that started in Charlottesville last Saturday.  The dad…

15 Pax with two wheels assembled for a sight to be seen.  Originally thought to be a ride to Starbucks, we just kept on going since we were having so much fun.  The route was down Grove and cut over to UR.  A scenic tour of the campus and back up the hills surrounding CCV to return via Grove to the Shovel Flag. We merged with the RAMM Pax and Flashdance took us out. NMS: I think the 4 semi-pro bikers had concern with us not making it back alive due to our self-proclaimed amateur status and freewheelin’ style.  Peewee,…

Yep, It’s Ground Hog’s Day.  A day to celebrate the signal of a spring to come, or know the winter still has us in it’s grasp for a little while longer.  I chose to go with the Bill Murray theme and celebrate an infinite loop. The route posted above is two miles in length.  4 milers do it twice, 6 milers do it three times, 5 milers do it twice with a one mile bonus loop (Grove to Malvern to Cary to Commonwealth to Grove).  Black Widow is the name of the route considering the resemblance to it’s namesake. NMS:…

A dirty dozen came out to play in the pristine Winter Wonderland of Mary today. Here is how the fun began…. Mosey to side of school for COP.  A couple of late arrivals showed after taking necessary precautions on the drive in. Don Quixote – Slow Saab Style with a Reach Helicopters Hill Billies Drop on your six for a couple of snow angels and roll into LBC APDs Quick mosey to the track for partner 4 Corners. Corner 1 – Jerkins x 7 Corner 2 – Plerkins x 15 Corner 3 – Chin Ups x 10 Corner 4 -…

The 3rd Anniversary Convergence was a double-dip extravaganza to celebrate three years of F3RVA.  Thirty-nine (39) of the faithful gathered in the darkness at 0600 at GridIron, and forty-three (43) of the faithful, plus seven (7) FNGs — fifty (50) in all — gathered at 0700. By my number-cruncing, it added up to 60 different people posting at one or both workouts, with 10 posting early and not late, 21 posting late and not early, and the balance double-dipping.  It was a perfect early autumn morning, and the grass, sand, and pavement were bathed in chilly morning dew, which we…

http://blog.walkjogrun.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/tips-for-running-in-the-dark.jpg 5 runners met in the GLOOM, four of which had not a stitch of anything that could be considered reflective, or luminescent. Route:  Schools laps (reverse).  Head out across the front of the school to the bus parking lot, cut across the grass to Honey Meadow.  Hang a right and run down to the AHS cut thru road, hang a right and head back to the cars.  Each loop = 1.6 miles. NMS:  On the way to the AO this morning, Lab Rat ate a Cliff Bar, drank a cup of coffee, and changed the pandora station off that…

10 Spider Run regulars and 1 Pax from Charlotte came in to run on this fine Fall August morning.  Geese were in the air and just a few weeks til the kids are back in school. Today’s route is the ∞ Route. 4 milers do 2 loops and 2 laps around the lake; 5 miles do 3 loops and 1 lap around the lake, and 6 milers do 4 loops. Swirly took us out. NMS – It was a little treacherous climbing snake hill with the endless convoy of concrete trucks going up and down, but the Pax made it…
