Nine of greater RVAs finest gathered at Mary today, including one who seemed to be lost and arrived very early. After strategically locating a hole for the flag, we gathered to chat and then off we went, picking up said flag for a quick mosey down Commonwealth to Cary. The ThangOld Glory. One mile route was west on Cary, north on Westmoreland, east on Hanover, south on Woodlawn, back to Cary. Four eager gentlemen gathered under the waning crescent for this morning’s iteration of Hoedown. Toto gathered his thoughts in his car, then emerged and off we went for an irregular old glory. Grab the flag and head south on Forest. Through the parking lot, left on Crest, left on Sunset, right on Lakewood, left on Hillsdale, wave to a sleeping Lockjaw, left on West Drive, left on Lindsay and back to where the flag was for the completion of the mile. The Thang Run to recycling center for 20 merkinsRun towards the drop off loop, u-turn back up the stairs…

8 Davillians who mostly feel asleep before the end of the UVA game, came out unaware this was a Old Glory day. YHC was inspired by Gumbo Pre-Blast and decided “The North” would mirror SOJ today. This is how it went down Slaughter Start – To give Congrats to UVA and The Carpenter alma mater, 8 Burpee OYO (for the 8 point win) THANG YHC grab the SF and yelled “Let’s Mosey”. At this time the PAX wasn’t aware it would be OG today. Some thought this would be another Murph but Opus was able to guess it The first…

11 gloom warriors posted despite the late night of basketball (congrats Hoos fans!) even knowing that an Old Glory was in store…or at least most of them knew. The flag was planted at 0520 and grabbed at 0528. A quick explanation of the Old Glory for the first-timers and a quick mention of the reason this OG was put on the books – to honor Doozy’s friend John “Big Mac” who we recently lost and other fallen vets. With that motivation, it was sure to be a great effort in the gloom and that it was…and we were off. 1…

A couple months ago Doozy and Conspiracy each told the PAX about a friend/co-worker who passed away after serving this country in as an Airborne Ranger and in DOD and ICE jobs. Doozy had a great request – that we do an Old Glory (coincidentally Doozy’s initial F3 workout was an Old Glory) in honor and remembrance of John and any other vets or civil servants that we want to lift up and honor and/or remember. So, nobody cares how late you stay up tonight cheering on the Hoos (or not), rise to the occasion and post to NoToll for…

Old Glory flew around parts of Westham this morning as 7 able bodied men attack the Inaugural Old Glory workout at Hoedown. The following is what YHC could remember: No COP! Grab Shovel Flag and complete a 1 mile run from TES to Trinity Methodist by way of a route through Westham. Plant Shovel Flag at the corner of Forest and Rock Creek and identify the following four corners to the PAX: Corner 1 – Forest and Rock Creek complete 20 Merkins Corner 2 – Back parking lot corner to the rear right of church property complete 20 Jump Squats…

20 hardened ironheads landed at No Toll looking to get muddy.  Luckily for the pristine fields, it was an Old Glory day and the majority of the activity was confined to the perimeter.  Here’s what went down: THANG: YHC grabbed the Flag and away we went.  No FNG’s, so a quick disclaimer was given on the fly. Start with a 1 mile run around the entire soccer field complex (2 laps).  Then, loops of 4 stations at the corners of the AO: Station 1:  20 x Merkins Station 2:  20 x Jump Squats Station 3:  10 x Burpees Station 4:…

14 SOJ redwoods rose for the occasion and to defend the Ghost Flag against any and all comers.  There were none, but we were ready nonetheless.  So, while YHC had a variation of an Old Glory in mind for the Ghost Flag competition, given that home turf didn’t need defending, I decided we would just do the good old fashioned Old Glory itself….always a crowd pleaser and it has been a while. Getting right down to business, YHC grabbed Old Glory and took off for the fields in the back of NoToll.  This was the first Old Glory for a…

11 Davillians arose from there fart sack not knowing that Old Glory was awaiting them. The SF was briefly  planted while mumble chatter was had prior to 5:30. This is how it went down: THANG YHC yelled “let’s mosey”, grabbed the SF, and headed down the sidewalk in front of the HS and MS; across the MS parking lot to the gravel track. One loop around the track, headed to back of the MS and 3/4 the way around the bus loop to complete the 1 mile warm up.  Plant the Flag and Al Gore for the six. YHC explained the…
