Grow Ruck

5 SOJ HIM’s rucked a few miles of Huguenot Flatwater this morning, all wearing more weight than they’re used to. Slightly slower pace/mile, but sufficiently challenging and excellent conversation. Also, a big WELCOME BACK to our brother XO, an ex-Navy guy who makes heavyweight rucking look easy. SYITG fellas, DTH

The pre-dawn gloom of Forrest Hill Park welcomed 11 GrowRuck warriors to an epic beatdown. With only 47 days left to train for GTE #47, today’s challenge was a taste of the real deal, but only 1/6th the duration. Here’s how these HIM’s turned green to celebrate the holiday and conquer the flesh: ROSIE’s “WARM-UP”:  Warm up on the tennis court – SSH, Ukrainian Soldiers, Helicopter, Imperial Walkers. PT test prep with 30 HRM and 35 WWII’s. Over to the hill for 11’s – Squats at the top, Mtn Climbers at the bottom. Finish at the bottom and bear crawl…

Nine speed-ruck studs looped Rockwood a few times this morning, stopping a couple times for variable squats, and also completed 50 yards of Polar Bears up a hill. GTE training continues – some will be ready when the day comes. Keep posting fellas! 💪🫵🔥~DTH

A rabble of 15 studly gloom warriors accepted today’s Ruck challenge, including NTB’s two high-spirited FNG’s. Yoko and Sandy (75lb punching bag & 50lb sand bag) joined the PAX from the get-go, and we didn’t travel far before collecting all four 8’ logs plus other cindies. Here’s how the PAX carried ‘em: The THANG: WARMERAMA: Welcome & Disclaimer Shoulder Yoko & Sandy Ruck 200 yards to Casa De DTH Collect x4 eight foot telephone poles and a number of cinder blocks Ruck the woods loop behind DTH’s house Circle up at the Shed & stretch TRIPLE CHECK: Get into groups…

5 of RVA’s elite rucking crew threw on some weighted packs, grabbed some extra weight, and headed out for the morning. Route was Libbie Market, down the hills to the bat cave and to the Huguenot Bridge – cup o’ joe on the bridge, back up the hills. Tclaps to Heist for grabbing the extra 40# and not giving it up for the return up the hills. Good to see the large Sunday Funday crew at Libbie Market post ruck. More ruck options coming up – tomorrow am at The Forge, 0530 GTE 47 Training Ruck Sunday at 0600 -…

An elite eight assembled outside the Huguenot Flatwater parking lot for another OTB ruck through the rolling Stratford Hills. Rather than our typical flat and fast roundtrip down Riverside Drive, YHC introduced the PAX to a hilly loop that covered approximately 3.5 miles. We hit a couple steep inclines on the out loop and then coasted back downhill to our vehicles, stopping for a quick detour at Chateau-de-NTB for 10 monkey humpers in front of the doorbell camera. It was a pleasure to ruck with Mayhem for the first time, as well as welcome FNG Alex to the PAX. FNG…

Six SOJ stallions took a night ride at breakneck speed along the banks of the James, crossing at Bell Isle and Nickel, for a 6.45 mile muddy trail ruck loop in 1 hour and 51 minutes, smashing all known and unknown records. GrowRuck requires training so everyone can help their brother survive it – it’s not about you, but the man next to you. No more excuses – let’s get after it! Only 61 days left to prepare. 🔥💪🫵 With YOU all the way, DTH

A magnificent seven assembled in the Huguenot Highschool parking lot, rucksacks on their backs for a guided tour through the rolling Stratford Hills. Mosey down to the lower parking lot for stretching to allow for any last minute stragglers to arrive. After DMH, Helicopters, Runner’s Lunge, and the like it’s clear that seven truly is the number of completion and we are ready to roll. Marching back to the flag would be too easy! Bear crawl up the grassy knolls, hit 10 squats at the top, lunge across the parking lot, and repeato the sequence until we’re back at the…

One of the best things about F3 is that someone will always show up to workout. Today was no exception. One trail runner and two trail ruckers launched on time. After conversing with someone who had just finished a trail run and was inquiring about rucking, off we went. Word of advice: Watch the slick and icy parts of the trail. With a ruck on, the center of gravity is higher and can result in a nose dive into the trail. Coffee afterwards was awesome and the discussion was excellent!

7 HIM’s satisfied the Morning Wood with a speedy 5K (3.1mi) ruck completed in 49 minutes. Enjoyed the conversations and the push. YHC is leaving for Aruba 😎☀️…see ya! ~DTH Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all. ~Sam Ewing
