13 rambunctious warriors bolted out of the fartsack this morning to take a quick jog. Route was up the hill to the main entrance, right up the hill to Cary, back down the hill to the main entrance, up Boatright to three chopt. Repeat as many times as possible. Traffic was heavy this morning. Especially on Boatright. YHC had to bail out to the woods a couple of times. The route was great as it had good elevation change and was a mile end to end. Last week during spring break would have been the time to hit this route.…

Thirteen brave soles emerged from their car’s, some expecting a Lockjaw Q. Alas, they received a Splinter Q tribute to Lockjaw but in reverse/inverted/backwards order. It went something like this: Reverse Pitchfork4 miles – Out river road exit, through RR shopping center, down Westham Station, up S. Ridge to the light. Return to the start. 5 miles – Same as 4 but on the way back hit Old Bridge to Highland 6 miles – Same as 5 but also add on the other section of Old Bridge and add Panorama. There were a few 5+ folks that skipped the second…

A loquacious eleven presented themselves for a classic multi-fingered spider run. Each finger represented a hill-route up toward Three-chopt road. Those involved chose the number they were comfortable with, but everyone got at least 3 in. Sippy introduced YHC to an additional finger. It was tough to take in the tail-end of the run, but it will definitely be added to the repetoire…it was a real burner. YHC found today how the pax continues to develop and improve. Everyone completed the legs in a faster time than they had before. I will need to add more mileage to such routes…much…

14 Proven Road Warriors showed up to Spider Run to move our legs and start the day off in the most awesome way. 0527-Route explained. Run through UR back to the entrance on River Road and across River Road Shopping Center. Cross Huguenot Bridge, Southbound, and exit onto Riverside Drive. L on Riverside and R on Southampton and R on Riverside again. 4 milers, about face at this point. Now original route was Riverside Dr into Hickory to Old Gun for 5 milers and 6 milers took Hickory all the way to Elm. However, within 1/4 mile on Riverside…..ROAD CLOSED,…

A lucky 13 came out for a full moon run. The Kanawha route was called and off we went with 5 and 6 mile options. A 4 mile option was invoked by several as well. Swirly took us out. The Moleskin A lot of double takes this morning. First, BT came in with Sippy to the start of the run prompting TYA to state how much Bootleg has changed in the last week. TYA and Saab dressed alike with only the glasses differentiating them. Finally, there was a Keymaster sighting in the darkest of roads. However, it cannot be confirmed…

9 warriors posted on a warm sunny Tuesday morning for a run. Route was Mount Henrico for all except Sippy. Sippy’s route was out and back on Grove. NMM Swirly got lost before he left the Robins center parking lot. He has done the route nearly 20 times and has only executed the actual route once. I don’t know what the confusion is, it is the same overtime. I was running without glasses this morning (due to the sun’s glare) so I couldn’t identify when Singer and Vinny started to follow Swirly and Bootleg. We corrected quickly and got back…

15 Soldiers posted on a lovely February morning.  Weather was beautiful for a run.  Route was up the main hill over to Grove, 5 milers turn around at West Locke, six milers turn around at Malvern. NMM Sippy loves the routes that use Grove avenue.  He is always so happy when YHC announces those routes. He postulated the maybe I liked them because it is well let and older people do not see as well.  Maybe he’s right. Bootleg is cranking in the miles in preparations of the Belmonte 50K.  He put in a marathon plus on the trails this…

The dirty dozen showed up today for good running weather before arctic temperatures descend upon us.  YHC called the route and over the river and through the woods we went – out and back. The Route Exit UR through the River Road entrance and take the bridge across the river.  Pick up Riverside Drive and head down river.  Turn at appropriate way points. Gomer Pyle took us out.  Welcome back! Moleskin Plenty of odd behavior around the lake today starting with odd disturbances with the ducks.  Perhaps there was an alligator causing the commotion, or maybe spring time came early…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wredc9WMRJQ 13 idiots paid no attention to the temperatures and posted this morning to Spider Run for some frosty miles.  Some (didn’t count) even held strong SOP – true morons tend to reveal themselves in these conditions…YHC resembles this remark. But, as the title suggests, one benefit was complete loss of feeling from the waste down. Almost felt like I was on cruise control. Routes were: 4-milers – cross the lake and down the trail to Campus Dive and across to University.  Up University to Westhamp Pkwy, then Left.  Across River Rd onto Country Squire and left on S. Ridge…

10 studs showed up on the day after a snow day to run.  Hill repeats were the call by the Q, but not Splinter type hill repeats.  The repeat was a 1 mile out and back from the lake to three chopt.  You can figure out the math on how many each of us did. NMM Pucker was flying today.  He lost six pounds in the last 15 days. The loop wasn’t quite 1 mile, so I owe you guys a couple of tenth’s, depending how far you ran. Swirly kept the 6’s in sight for most of the run.…
