As thoughts of remaining in the warm car rushed through YHC’s head, the dream was shattered by the piercing headlights of Rosie’s pathfinder…well, time to get to work.  Two River Run locals, broke free from the warmth, let their knees feel the cold breeze and took off toward Twin Team Hill – but opted to hook a Right and head for flatter streets.  Down to YHC’s neighborhood and looped back across Robious for the “North” side loop.  4 miles for YHC – with an early exit for a case of the Santa Brunch Revenge, while Rosie clocked nearly 5 miles. …

Belated post since neither of us decided who would write the backblast.  2 stepped out of the cars, neither with a plan of where to run.  A couple options were thrown out and the RollerCoaster was the final decision.  Up into River Downs we went.  After leaving a message in the frost on Gumbo’s windshield to let him know we had been there YHC found an extra hill to conquer to add a little more than 5 miles to the out and back.  Lugnut was his usual steady pace out and quicker back going down the big hill.  Next time…

4 veterans posted to River Run this morning for a chilly River Run.  The PAX departed their warm vehicles with 2 minutes to spare and just enough time for route instructions – partially the traditional route but without the Ashwell loop and instead picking up a flat loop at the bottom of Twin Team hill — or so I’m told…as YHC had to exit stage right after Twin Team Hill to do battle with some upset pie.  Rosie took the lead and returned with Singer in tow, so all ended well – except for the pie that is. LugNut did…

4 brave men barred the cold to take on Murph Friday! Mossy to the main playground. 10 rounds of the below with each round consisting of the following exercises. 10 pullups 20 Merkins 30 squats After we completed the 10 rounds we headed back to the parking lot COT, Name-a-rama, Number-rama Strong work for all as it was a cold morning with frost on the pull up bars!  Great way to start off the day and burn off some of the turkey from the day before.

In honor of Nascar Championship weekend it felt appropriate to take as many laps around the Bettie Weaver/james River loop as possible in 45 minutes.  Each lap was 1.4 miles and just like an old set of tires my shoes were not as quick at the end as they were in the beginning.   YHC had hoped to “race” other members of the PAX but to no avail as my solo status relegated race day into a simple track day. So long for now!

3 Southside regulars eschewed the cold and rain and posted to River Run to start their week.  YHC had a little something different planned.  We moseyed half a mile to the track and YHC alerted the PAX of the plan – 25 merkins – run a lap…repeat AMRAP…..Audible after 200 merkins and 2 miles as YHC needed to find one of those lovely green small buildings and make a deposit. With one located in the parking lot, DK and Rosie ran laps around the parking lot while YHC stopped by the office. Regroup and finish with about a mile run down…

2 showed up for a nice easy stroll through Tarrington.  Since YHC saw Flatline multiple times this weekend, local soccer field and Hardywood, it was only fitting to get 45 minutes to catch up with him on a run.  Enjoyed good conversation from youth soccer to failing AOs and more.  It was Flatline’s first run since BRR after a couple months of rest and stretching foot ailments he seemed no worse for the wear as we kept a solid pace up the hills. YHC is starting to feel like TYA, picking up easy running Q’s, somebody has to do it. …

4 RiverRun regulars returned to run a route that reversed itself.  Not sure who signed up to Q,(hint, no one) the 4 PAX discussed options for the run and decided on a simple out and back.  Up Twin Team and right on Brigstock, turn around and come back after 22:30.  4 started the run but 3 finished with Lugnut making an Irish exit. Honeymoon seemed happy to be back on the east coast, although there were apparently some tough hills on the west coast beaches.  Wedding Singer is in the home stretch of half marathon training and seems ready to…

5 RiverRun Vets and 3 new RiverRunners found themselves in the early gloom of the Bettie Weaver parking lot ready to take on a few miles and hills.  The route was explained multiple times to multiple PAX and finally all understood the basic route. James River Road, right on Riverton Ridge Road, into Tarrington, 4 milers right on Welby Dr. left on Edmonton, right on Ashwell, across Robious down Twin Team and a loop around the school.  5 milers, left on Ashwell and do the Ashwell loop.  Add James River Road down to the park at the end to get…

7 strong posted in the rain this week for a RiverRun in standard American English. Thang:  Run into the park and around the back of the school (found some fun new toys for TwinTeam) then over to the track, a little over a mile.  Speed work – 800 repeats – Run 2 laps hard then a recovery lap.  Repeato until YHC calls time. Jville and Honeymoon were pushing hard through the 800 laps, YHC knows how much Jville loves speed work and was glad to see him out today.  Wilson and Aisle 5 caught up on their recovery laps, it…
