A PAX eclipsing 40 ditched all common sense for about 18 hours to receive a plentiful helping of each of the three Fs.  This was the F3RVA Century Classic. YHC has conversed with a number of individual PAX members about their experience, taking notes during the event and thinking about how to transcribe all of these memories into a backblast.  There is no way YHC could do the stories justice by attempting to capture them for the collective PAX.  Then, after chatting with Lockjaw and the (sober) Ronnie, it became clear.  Treat the backblast as a living backblast.  YHC will…

Two River Run vets posted fresh off Spring Break to log a few miles at an easy pace to stay ready for CSAUP.  YHC called for the Tarrington route in reverse to shock the body and head up Twin Team since that is the way our brothers will run from Twin Team to SOT on Saturday morning. Always a crusher.  With time to spare, we took a pass by the river and then headed back to the flag. Great run. Thanks Rosie!! CSAUP week is upon us. Stay Healthy. Stay ready! No more Gumbo for You!

With spring break upon us, YHC knew Rosie and Gumbo were not posting. So, would this be YHC first solo Q and work out…..nope. YHC arrived to see Wedding Singer waiting and right on the heels of Lugnut and his 2.0 and FNGal. YHC claimed the Q and explained the route.  Up Twin Team and R on Ellesmere. R on Brigstock running to Twin Team. L on Twin Team and back to Betty Weaver=4 mile route. 5 mile route planned for Wedding Singer and YHC if needed.  At the end, 4 miles for all 4 PAX members this am. Great…

A trio of SOJ regulars and SOJ CSAUP participants posted on this crisp Monday morning to log some miles.  With YHC’s knee feeling a little wonky this weekend, a mostly flat route winding through the River Downs neighborhoods – both North and South of Robious Road.  The pace was modest and we got stuck crossing Robious a couple times, but we put in a solid 5.1 miles and conquered one short but steep climb on Post Mill.  Great work guys!  A good run and better fellowship. COT, Number-rama, Name-a-rama and YHC took us out. No More Gumbo for You!

4 grizzled veterans, including one who has been losing more sleep than others these days, posted to River Run to log some miles.  YHC called out the plan – each PAX member would set off on their individual journey through (generally the traditional Tarrington route) in search of this thing that the great SPlinter spoke of on Friday…the NEGATIVE SPLIT — out for at least 23 minutes and then turn around and retrace your steps and try to get back to the flag before time ran out. From the beginning, Rosie was off to the races clearly with 6+ miles on his mind,…

2 runners posted to get in a few miles before the Wintry Mix descends upon us.  Conditions were excellent for a run – cool but not brutal and relatively little wind compared to recent days. We headed up Twin Team and turned right on Brigstock into Salisbury.  Second right on Mt. Hill for the loop around back to Brigstock.  Left on Brigstock back to Ellesmere – Right on Ellesmere into Powderham.  Right on Glendower and around the curve onto Drakewood and back to Twin Team via Cawood Dr.  Down Twin Team and back to Bettie Weaver – down past the…

7 brave men barred the cold to take on Murph Friday including 1 FNG! Mossy to the main playground. 10 rounds of the below with each round consisting of the following exercises. 10 pullups 20 Merkins 30 squats After we completed the 10 rounds we headed back to the parking lot COT, Name-a-rama, Number-rama Awesome to have a new FNG (Bullseye) this AM as we crushed the cold weather Murph and what better way to break him in!  Good work by all as I am seeing several guys getting more and more of the lovely pullups…..keep pushing.  Always a pleasure…

1 lonely sole braved the return of Winter temps and the remnants of the windy weekend and took the opportunity to extend the mileage with no 0615 COT deadline waiting.  YHC headed out and into to Tarrington for the traditional loop but once I reached the entrance to Tarrington at Robious Road, rather than crossing the road and into the bush, YHC turned around and re-traced the route back to the flag for a full 6 miles (with a lap around the BWES parking lot).  Not a bad route and the Ashwell hill coming back up to Sheffield on the…

4 River Run regulars purchased tickets for the River Downs Rollercoaster and started the morning by destroying some hills SOJ…after LugNut nicely moved his vehicle to clear space for the concerned bus driver… Route was around the loop by the high school, right on Robious Road (on the walking path), take a left and cross over onto Riverdowns South, 2nd left onto Queens Grant Drive – up the killer hill – right on Royal Crest and down the hill to Gumbo’s house (or into Cross Creek for an extra mile if you are Rosie and you have a rocket strapped…

5 SOJ regulars posted to River Run to log some wet miles this morning.  Distances varied, but hills were climbed, bush was found and penetrated, miles were logged, PAX members were soaked and deposits were made in little green buildings.  Just another great Monday morning at River Run. Tclaps to Rosie for destroying the Ashcroft mountain with time to cover some extra distance while Honeymoon pulled YHC’s struggling arse up the mountain and we made our way through the bush and down Twin Team. Great to have LugNut and Wedding Singer out this morning. Only 7 more Mondays until the CSAUP so come…
