A half dozen posted at the southern end of the Libbie Mill Library parking lot for the temporarily relocated GridIron. We exited our vehicles prior to the start time, probably due to some enthusiasm for temporary new grounds, and tried to ignore the cutting northeast wind. Advertised as a Hot Potato affair, we followed through with this and everyone had a go. Chum Bucket started with a mosey to the wind-shielded loading dock of the library for the startup COP with SSHs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, and Arm Circles. Moved into a nearby field for five round rotation of 10 Merkins…

We are very excited that Henrico Recreation & Parks (HR&P) has, at our request, graciously agreed to install pull up bars and dip bars at Pouncy Tract Park to replace (and substantially improve) those that were removed some time ago. HR&P has asked for our input on placement. My thought is that we provide 2-3 optional suggestions. If you are interested in weighing in on that, then please meet at Pouncy Tract Park at 8A next Saturday (11/ 23) to walk the site and weigh options. The meeting will commence right after COT. It will be followed by the usual…

GridIron regular and all around good guy Blue Moon will be running his first full marathon on Saturday. GridIron will be relocated to Libbie Mill Library for marathon Saturday only with a 7:30 AM start and, as usual, a 1 hour run time. Hot potato Q planned. Will follow with some coffee and heat at nearby Crafted. Those that are interested will head after coffee to the marathon course for race viewing. We are planning to informally meet up in the median strip near the 3800 block of Fauquier Avenue. Best access – avoid race course interaction by taking Interstate…

10 PAX including one FNG (Welcome Deliverance) took to the grounds of the county’s famous (maybe infamous) Short Pump Middle School for a cold beat down. It went a little something like this: COP: two loops around the football field with high knees, karaoke and Bernie Sanders mixed in. 25 side straddle hops, 10 Don Quixotes, 10 arm circles and 10 Russian soldiers First exercise: Go to the overhang by Short Pump Middle. At one pillar do 3 2 count flutter kicks and at the next pillar 3 heels to heaven. After getting to pillar 30ish, we reversed direction and…

Nine PAX posted in cool temperatures and on the last Daylight Saving Time morning of 2019 for GridIron. Spread out in the parking lot, pick a parking lot row (short line), and complete 1 Burpee and 5 SSHs. Jog to the end of the short line and do the same. Complete six rounds. Assemble in a circle for Invisible Jump Ropes, Hillbillies, Don Quixotes, Suzanne Somers(es), Off Tempo APDs, and some Arm Circles. Line up and march west in Mobile Imperial Walker mode. Last guy runs to the front of the line Indian Run-style. Continue out to Pouncey Tract Road…

Today was the return of the prodigal son.  With the help of Chum Bucket’s headlocking efforts, Nightcrawler made his triumphant return to Gridiron as he avoided the temptation of merlot, firearms and fishing lures for the first time in months.  There was no need to find a fattened calf as Nightcrawler himself served in this symbolic role.  Once all of this joyful greetings concluded, a beatdown commenced.  Here is how it went down: COP 30 SSH15 IW15 DQ15 helicopters20 HRM40 2x LBC10 Suzanne Somers –each leg40 APDMosey to the football field for a bearimeter stopping every 50 yards (6 total…

This falls under the category of “better late than never.” Nine of the faithful posted last Saturday at GridIron. Light warmup with the usual stuff. Grab coupons. Mosey to field and do 2 laps around 1/2 perimeter. At corners do 1 coupon burpee, then 2, 3, 4 .. 8. Ark loader along length of field with coupons. Death crawl/lunge; then Death crab/lunge. Jack webb with coupons to 10. Native American run to front of shool. Exit Attila for little league, leaving 8, a perfect number for a quad check with coupon wall sits, sit and presses, lawn mower, and run…

Ten of the faithful posted on a lovely late-summer morning at GridIron. Johnsonville (YHC) took the Q, and this is what went down, more or less: COP warmup — Don Quiotes, Imperial Walkers, 50x arm circles (front) + 10 big, merkins, LBCs, 50x arm circles (back) + 10 big. Mosey over to the grassy knoll past the dozen or so pickleball courts that Henrico county is building on the site that formerly housed the sand volleyball courts. 10 minutes of burpees — no explanation need. Mosey to original pickleball courts. 10 rounds of suicides divided by various plank and wall-sit…
