Betty Weaver Elementary

A grizzled fifty-something, with more subcutaneous bodyfat than sense, rolled into Bettie Weaver ES to see what the day would bring. Survey says ….. rain, sleet and a big &#%@ hill. Up Twin Team, right onto E. Brigstock, turn at 22:00 and BTTF. My slow-ass pace made the 4 mi route more of a 3 mi one , but hey — me vs. me. NMMS: I really didn’t want to post today. Like, REALLY didn’t want to post, despite the 70 degree and sunny conditions. But I need the miles and I need the self discipline. And man oh man…

5 brave souls braved the last day of 2021 to take on Murph! Mossy around the school and the track for a mile to get to the main playground. 10 rounds of the below with each round consisting of the following exercises. 10 pullups20 Merkins30 squats After we completed the 10 rounds we headed back to the parking lot with the normal stop at the track to make sure we got the full mile in.  Total millage equaled 2 miles with a nice little beat-down in the middle. Strong work for all that showed up and look forward to…

YHC felt the need for speed (sort of) today, so River Run featured a jaunt to the JRHS track for some striders. Here’s how it went: 1/2 mi mosey to the track 1 mi strider; fast on the turns, slower on the straights 1/4 mi recovery 1 mi strider; fast on the straights, slower on the turns 1/4 mi recovery 1 mi strider; slow to fast on each lap 1/2 mi mosey BTTF NMMS: Thank you, member of the JRHS custodial staff who left the men’s room unlocked. You averted disaster.

A post-Sunday Funday yoga mishap left YHC with a gimpy lower back, right about where the tramp stamp would go. Instead of making things worse with a trip up Twin Team hill, YHC decided to head to the Swamp for some active-recovery laps around the track. Make it a great one! Doublemint

A. banger from The Clash’s seminal 1979 album London Calling B. Zara White’s signature move in Buttman’s European Vacation C. pretty decent F3 name D. YHC’s isometric gluteal workout for the last 2 miles of the run Answer: All of the above. OG Tarrington route today — things got dicey there in the end. So to speak. Make it a great one! Doublemint

The OG Tarrington route is one of YHC’s favorites, and today seemed like a good day to run it in reverse. BWES to Twin Team Hill, cross Robious and enter Tarrington at Ashwell, run the loop and BTTF.

A trio of studs kicked the week off right with a tour of Tarrington and some quality time on Twin Team hill. Here’s how it went: BWES toward the river and the back entrance of Tarrington; Right on Riverton Right until the roundabout, over to Sheffield and up to Ashwell Left around the Ashwell loop, then left again to Robious cut through the path onto Powderham Lane/Old Robious down Twin Team; back up Twin Team (!), and down again BTTF Numbers, names, YHC took us out. Announcements: HDHH, Puppy Pile and Field Day all coming soon. NMMS: it was great…

…’cause a two-lap party don’t stop. At least, that’s what was reported by a pair of SOJ stallions at River Run this morning. Here’s how it went. Mosey from BWES to the Swamp (800m)4 x 800m at speed, 400m recoveryMosey BTTF (800m) Prescribed mileage is 4, adding a 400m intro and another 800+400 lap gets you to 5. numbers, names, announcements, YHC took us out. NMMS: it was great to run with Singer this morning. The track can be a tough one to do OYO, so it’s great to have some mutual accountability and support out there to prevent track-sacking.…
