Browsing: Sunday Funday

Seven trail runners declared their independence from the tyranny of a centralized egomaniacal monarch, set their own courses, and tackled today’s edition of Sunday Funday. Conditions were genuinely 70 and sunny. According to Routes were South then North. Some, perhaps energized by the late start (7:01 a.m.) set off fast and crushed it. Some did the normal amount. Some maybe a bit less. All celebrated their freedom to establish and achieve their own goals. YHC believes that distances ranged from 6+ to 8+. You vs. you. Numbers, names, YHC took us out. Announcements: Hitchhiker House Party, July 17. 5:30 pm…

Eight studs posted on a steamy Sunday morning for a trail run. Route was Northbankt trail to Tredegar, Tredegar to Mayo bridge, flood wall to buttermilk, buttermilk to access road and bsck across the nickel bridge. 8 mile in total, despite what some of the Pax thought. We took a swim in the river on the way back just before the nickel bridge. Water was glorious. I was drier after getting out of the water that before I went in. Saab donned his speedo. TYA OUT

9 studs and a couple of pooches ran off in groups of 2 or 3 (and maybe 1 or 4) for today’s rendition of Sunday Funday. Conditions were 70 and sunny with some exceptionally attractive mud puddles. According to the mountain biker unfamiliar with the trail rules, here’s more or less what happened: North Bank (everyone) to a bridge. Some T-Pot, some Belle Isle. Once some were on Belle Isle, some did the loop, some did not. For the T-Pot bunch, some did Forest Hill, perhaps the full loop or perhaps the lake loop, and everyone made it back to…

The traffic on the trails is picking up. Gomer and Saab hit the roads at blazing speeds. Helix and YHC went Buttermilk to TPot to Northbank, picking up Sippy and K9 Penny there. The PAX reconvened at the parking lot. YHC bets Penny will fit right in with Peeta, Sally, Parker, and the other F3 K9s. The mayor is still missing – the PAX hopes TYA’s heals quickly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqM_nL8-GHA Six PAX with a collective 16 legs took to the trails. The route was Buttermilk to Belle Isle, around the east end, to Northbank. At about the new Northbank connector, YHC and Sippy paused and noted we hadn’t seen Anthrax and FNG Mike for a bit. We wondered if they had taken the “hikers” trail when we took the “bikers” switchback and they might be ahead of us. We turned back and didn’t find them, then turned around and headed to the parking lot. Cars were still there, but no PAX. After backtracking again, we still didn’t find them,…

Quiet day on the trails, even though it was 70 and sunny. PAX went Northbank to T Pot to Buttermilk. Helix went unseen from the stairs to the parking lot. Hikers on the trail were sharing a legend, passed on to TYA and YHC, that he jumped over a copperhead at the trail head. A wet substance fell from the sky that the PAX did not recognize – perhaps it could be useful. All PAX reconvened at ET’s to trade recipes and share stories of child rearing.

7 hombres rose mucho early to run and enjoy a peaceful desayuno with amigos. Temperatures were a perfecto 70 and sunny. According to the River Rock runners, here’s what happened: Route was “follow the signs” to the route, the bridge to Buttermilk to Belle Isle, round the loop, to North Bank and BTTVSF. Topics included: Should we run on the route in use by the River Rock Runners? Does the definition of diversity include more than race? In light of the CDC’s new guidance, do we still have to wear a mask to TYA’s virtual colonoscopy? Answers were, in no…

YHC suggested Texas Beach, so PAX went about 1/2 mile past the pumphouse, through a small hole in the fence, under the train (Sally’s highlight), back to Texas Beach, then Northbank to Belle Isle, around the west end like old times, and back on Buttermilk. Then YHC and TYA headed to ET’s.

The route today was Forest Hill loop + spur both ways for about 7 miles. Saab ran the roads. Welcome to FNG Anthrax, caregiver of Peeta the K9. Apparently, joining F3 was only ~5 years in the making. He shares an office with TYA. Some alternate names were discussed at ET’s. Sally and Peeta took good care of each other and the PAX. They made sure that all squirrels were off the ground and properly placed in a tree somewhere. At ET’s, the PAX regaled each other with timeless stories like, “I once ate cheese with an apple” and, “My…
