The Dirty Dozen (and hot and soaked)

6

12 heroes gathered in the gloom for a humid start to see how messy they would get before getting back in their cars. Unlike the movie, we all made it back.

5 Burpee start

Mosey to pick up blocks, disclaimer, and COP all IC. Deadman hang, SSH, DQ, 20x small arm circles, 20x reverse small arm circles, 20x big arm circles, 20x reverse big arm circles, palms up, palms down, 5x Overhead clap, 5x Seal claps, 16x big arm circles, 25x LBC, 20x Freddie, 10x Bohemian Rhapsody, 10x Dollies, 10x grass angel, 10x Australian grass angel, 10x merkin, 10x wide merkin, 10x shoulder tap, 10x HRM, 10x Shazzam + 1 for the Ranger in the sky.

Mosey with block to the rusty cage for a triple check. Timer runs to the hydrant and does a burpee. P1 Jerkins. P2 medley of 5 pullups, 20 squat, 10 WW2.

Mosey with block to the amphitheater for a little creativity & audible. Since the stage was painted for the artist formerly known as Prince we did a 1999 theme running up / down all 19 steps (plus the floor) and 99 exercises: 20x WW2, 20xseated overhead press, 20x Wipers over the block, 20x flutter kicks, and 19x heels to heaven holding the block. Thanks to the Sky Q for the rain to break the humidity.

  1. Good to meet Hooptie. Thanks to all who let me lead.

Specially thanks to Upchuck and Sippy for leading physically, this was a tough one today.

When its dirty and nasty enough that a soaking rain makes you feel really good – that’s Army Training where I come from.

    Gitty up!

  2. I was so disappointed to miss this one. Got a flat tire on the way. Got a spare on and headed back my way. Wondered what y’all were up to as I Q’ed myself at Godwin. It was a humid one. Hope to catch y’all next week. Great to hear that Rip Cord, Garbage Plate, Up Chuck, Seymour, Faceplant and Sippy Cupp were there – it’s been a while.

  3. Great to hear that Splinter was there too.

Gomer mixed up some goodies in the Q today. Carrying the blocks from station to station wondering if we would ever use them. Plus the COP which was a true shoulder burn. Great Q Gomer!

  4. Yep, it’s been a minute at DP. Been hitting places like France or The Bridge or just taking my kids to camp. Oh, and then there is the slight case of PTSD that appeared after a prior Dogpile when a sadist Q took us out in a Class V thunder-flood of beat down / water boarding this spring. The Valley of Ill Repute was always a challenge, and then someone tried to drown me there.

So, yeah, on balance, good to be back.

  5. Bwahahahha! Yeah, UC, you called it, that was a stupid Q. While reading over GP’s post tonight about Hampton Roads leadership structure, one job of AO/Site Qs jumped out at me: “He manages safety for the site (don’t post if there is a bunch of lightning, that sort of thing).” So, yeah, rookie mistake. 🙂

  6. It’s funny you should say that it was a rookie mistake. We ran Roller Coaster (Wed Hill Run) once last summer, and it thunder stormed. We continued running. Got soaked. Had a ball.

Probably should have been more careful. Your Q was unique because of how awesomely hard it was to swim and run and do burpees all at once.
