River[ups and]downs

2

Six thoroughbreds gathered in the gloom at Bettie Weaver ES for an extended mosey – here’s how it went:

Right on Robious, left on Riverdowns South and curse the hills that YHC forgot were back here. Loop around Royal Crest and wonder where the downhill parts start. Pass Gumbo’s yurt and wave to the sherpas and yetis. Finally descend to the Robious flatlands. 4s right on Robious and back to the flag by way of the access road by the JRHS football field. 5s/6s noodle around Riverdowns North and do whatever it is that 5s/6s do, then back to the flag by way of the JRHS football field road.

Numberama, namearama, and YHC took us out.

Great to have Garbage Plate join us on the Winter Tour!

  1. Great route Doublemint. That icy patch on the trail almost killed me before we really got started. Then, the we settled in for the steady incline on the way out, then the killer climb but that long descent was a beautiful thing (and well-earned at mile 3). The whole way down all I could think of was that time Aisle 5 came flying past the PAX down that hill, arms and legs flailing and we all thought he was about to tuck and roll…like it was yesterday.

Glad Garbage Plate could keep Rosie company. I took the hint when Rosie said “now which way to I turn after I cross back over Robious”. What am I not going to be alongside at that point?…NOPE!

Great time guys. Have a great Monday.

  2. Cresting the hill only to see more ahead is definitely a gut check. “Storming the Castle” indeed. I’m pretty sure Lugnut got 7 miles with his Jedi marathon training, but I lost track when he lapped me twice.
