Thanks for allowing me to lead this morning guys – tried to keep us fairly dry… The snow coming down in the light this morning was a beautiful site. Extra points in the files for those who showed up this morning – well done. Some things we learned this morning – Bodo’s has trouble following direction and he enjoys graphic novels – Hardywood was confused on what a graphic novel actually was – he’s good now 🙂 According to Bodo’s the best graphic novel out now is by Detrick Bonhoffer – The faithful Spy – sounds like a good one – like we said to Corned Beef – dude you gotta read ! Seriously we have a great source of books within our group I encourage you all to share because we are all working towards getting better everyday right – and to get better we need to hit the three key areas – Body – Mind- Spirit . There are a few good books floating around through the pax – ask if interested. Heads up an F3RVA book club will be coming soon as part of our 3 F’s – stay tuned and let me know if your interested in being part of leading this !

  1. So exhilarating to be out there with you guys in the early snowy morning. What an awesome way to begin the day. Thanks Swirly for a great Q.

  2. Way to lead us Swirly. Getting up and at em early is hard enough, with some challenging weather it makes it even better. Thanks for the clarity on graphic novels and knowing that there is a now a way to justify adults reading comics. Now I don’t have to hide my affinity for Hagar The Horrible and Apartment 3 G.

Totally agreed on reading, it is mission critical to personal growth. If you aren’t growing, then you are dying. The importance of reading is brilliantly summed up by general Mattis:

“The problem with being too busy to read is that you learn by experience (or by your men’s experience), i.e. the hard way. By reading, you learn through others’ experiences, generally a better way to do business, especially in our line of work where the consequences of incompetence are so final for young men.

Thanks to my reading, I have never been caught flat-footed by any situation, never at a loss for how any problem has been addressed (successfully or unsuccessfully) before. It doesn’t give me all the answers, but it lights what is often a dark path ahead.”

  3. Great Workout and BB Swirly and love the feedback this morning. The power of this group is that you are always glad you made the workout. We also grow together as brothers while sweating it out and I get to work on my reading skills with BB each day?. Holding feet 6” for a 50 count was no joke! Have a great day gents…CB
