Peloton

15 Pax with two wheels assembled for a sight to be seen.  Originally thought to be a ride to Starbucks, we just kept on going since we were having so much fun.  The route was down Grove and cut over to UR.  A scenic tour of the campus and back up the hills surrounding CCV to return via Grove to the Shovel Flag.

We merged with the RAMM Pax and Flashdance took us out.

NMS:

I think the 4 semi-pro bikers had concern with us not making it back alive due to our self-proclaimed amateur status and freewheelin’ style.  Peewee, No Tools, Clavin, and Wheelie herded us like a flock of sheep checking on the strays and keeping us moving.

We had a bunch of mountain bikes from various college experiences.  Old bikes, new bikes, and some in between.  BT gets points for cleanest bike.  Mint condition.  He must shrink wrap it when not in use.  I am finding the Vinny is always all in.  He could of brought his mountain bike, but instead borrowed a beach cruiser for full amateur effect complete with fenders!  He does love a themed workout.

One could hear the squealing of brakes that haven’t been used in years and the mis-shifting of gears (at least on YHC’s derailer challenged bike) for miles.

It was great to lead this fine group this morning.  Perhaps this will be a recurring event?

  1. What an awesome ride! This should be a regular endeavor during summer months. T-Claps to Hardywood’s alter ego Higgins (Magnum PI) for showing up today with fanciful shirt and ride along coffee mug. Loved seeing the bike on the back of the Ferrari as he pulled into the parking lot. Vinny does love a themed workout. Flatline has an outfit planned for tomorrow. Bring your A game, boys!

  2. Man, that was a lot of fun. Ya’ll made me laugh early and often, the smile will carry right on through the day. Glad we kept going vs stop for coffee, it was good to actually get a hill or two in on the way back and get some blood moving. Thanks to Lockjaw for organizing and the the semi pro’s for keeping us alive. Nice to hang out with ya’ll this morning.

  3. What a blast! I’ll be back on the bike for sure. Thanks for the semi-pros for making sure we did not die. Much appreciated.

  4. UGH! My stupid watch “updated” again during the night and left me stranded in bed. HATED to miss this one.

  5. Big Tennessee on

Clean as whistle and steady as the drip, baby! Apologies and thanks to the semi-pros. That was so much fun it didn’t even feel like working out! That said, my undercarriage is tender and it hurts to pee. Is that bad? No Tools, give me the name of that special seat again!

  6. Lots of fun. Thanks again to No Tools for letting me ride his sweet whip.

    See y’all in the AM.

  7. Thanks to wheelie for the use of his mountain bike! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be out looking for a bike this weekend… and a helmet that fits. See you in the gloom.

  8. Had a blast this morning. It put me in a good mood for the rest of the day We should do this at least once a month during the summer. Thank you semi-pros for watching out for us and to Lockjaw for organizing.

  9. That was a blast! BT, that seat comes from Selle Anatomica. They only make a few models but I’m pretty sure that is a “model X”. Almost as comfy is Brooks’ relieved B17 Imperial but those require 6 months of break-in. Selle Anatomica makes their stuff in the USA too… ain’t cheap but lasts a lifetime.

  10. That really was a blast, and should happen more often.

Any MTBers (ANY skill level) want to get a ride together, I’m down. I’m good for pretty much any venue.

And for any PAX needing bike repair, tune up, correct bike fit, or anything else bike related, please visit No Tools’ Killer Coffee & Bike Repair Emporium in the city. Appointments taken at bv@bvay.net.

    Thank for the ride!
