A dirty dozen turned out for the last spider run of the year. The following routes were a little bit heavy on distance and carried a fair amount of elevation: 4 milers: Ridgeway to Fairview to Iris. Cross Three Chopt and head toward Grove. Take Grove and make a right at Oak. Take Oak to Cary and return. 5 milers: Ridgeway to Fairview to Iris. Cross Three Chopt and head toward Grove. Take Grove and make a right at Oak. Take Oak to Cary. Cross Cary to Hillcrest. Run to bottom of (West) Hillcrest and return. 6 Milers: Ridgeway to…

A dirty dozen descended upon the U of R basin to take in a holiday light tour by way of the Mt Henrico. Distances ranged from 4, 5, and 6 miles…7 miles if you are equipped with Faceplant’s knowledge of RVA residential road signage. A hearty welcome to our FNG Mad Dog. Merry Christmas everyone. Saab abides…when able.

Eleven 12 Days of Christmas dodgers huddled, backs to the lake, to avoid the lake effect wind. Today was YHCs gift to the PAX, extra miles to push ourselves heading into the holiday season. After BT confused Saab with references to Bavaria, YHC gave instructions, which went something like this: The RouteEveryone head over the bridge in front of the Commons, left up towards the Chapel and right on UR drive. Continue to River, left on River, cut through the shopping center, right on Huguenot and across the bridge. Loop around to Riverside, left on Riverside, right towards Flatwater, left…

You are looking live at an unseasonably warm December day on the campus of the University of Richmond. This morning, fourteen men, and an energetic K-9, have gathered by the duck pond of one of the Southeast’s most expensive universities. Over the next 45 minutes, they will motivate themselves to run for forty-five, yes, forty-five consecutive minutes…beginning right here at 5 Richmond Way, and ending right here at 5 Richmond Way. Some of these men will decide to run six miles. Other’s four. Another group will trundle for five miles. But the story of the day is the addition of…

A dirty dozen descended upon U of R to see what happens when the Q-sheet is left open. YHC chose his favorite, fabled 5 fingers route. Although I counted 3 who covered the route exactly as prescribed, I learned something today…it doesn’t matter the order of the fingers – just that you get them all in. Great work today fellas. Saab abides (when able)

Fourteen fleet a foot plus one on two wheels and birkenstocks huddled and waiting for rain that never happened. After some finger pointing as to who had the Q, YHC proclaimed he grabbed it last night. Routes were as follows and then a prompt 0530 departure courtesy of TYA. RoutesMeander through campus towards the River Road exit, crossing through the shopping center and across the bridge. 4 milers complete the cloverleaf and then return. 5 and 6 milers go downriver (east). 5s take the first right onto Oxford and then another RIGHT onto Arrowhead. Continue up to Cherokee and return…

15 Redwoods posted on a beautiful fall morning. Weather was optimal for a run. Perfect conditions. Hill repeats was the call. Go up the hill to the main entrance of UR, take a right and make your way to intersection of 3chopt. Turn around and go back to the start. Each loop is just under 2 miles. NMM Lug is a beast. His running capability is only surpassed by his ability to drop weight. He is flying out there these days. Along the route today he passed YHC, Pucker, Shakedown and Lab Rat. He was chasing down EF Hutton at…

Fifteen intrepid nincompoops met at the commons today for another set of seventeen turns to complete a Spider Run. Someone stole the last parking spot by the lake which resulted in YHC driving in circles today. PSA – you must arrive early to Spider Run to get a prime spot. Regardless, we did a big loop today. 6 mile loop is above with 5 miles coming back on Lakewood and right on Westham. 4 milers stayed on Westham the entire jaunt south. No one was lost. Bleeder actually knew which direction he was heading and the 6 milers were “late”…

Nineteen eager pavement pounders gathered at the commons and watched Circle K drive around looking for a parking spot. Lug Nut apparently came in hot and missed the festivities so he threw his own party. As expected, directions were withheld until T-minus 30 seconds. Run as a group through fraternity row and gather at the base of Horsepen and Waveny. The ThangIntervals up Waveny. 1 minute up at about 75% intensity and recover back to the bottom in 1:45. Repeat x4. Mosey up to Shrewsbury. Long intervals up Horsepen. 2 minutes up at whatever intensity you feel appropriate and recover…

YHC, in an effort to free Saab from the cortisone-high heavy load of writing BB for yet another City of Richmond run, signed up for the Q, somewhat last-minute, and began preparation late Monday night. Then, only seconds later, fell asleep. Awoke to sunny and 70 weather, picked up the also-last-minute FNG (who insisted on a run as his first workout), made our way to the gloom, and we were on our way. The Run / Thang Your Q was excited to plan a route cutting from campus to Roselawn to Grove, but the mob PAX insisted it was closed,…
