Not sure where the PAX was running this morning till all were at The Gloom! Gumbo and Crayola present upon arrival with Rosie quickly following. YHC was still smoked after yesterday’s impromptu 1/2 Marathon for Father’s Day!! PAX agreed to Tarrington Loop and 0530 down James River Drive the PAX went. By the first hill, Rosie and Gumbo took lead with YHC and Crayola caboosing the run!! This morning’s run was all about introducing Crayola to Tarrington and getting an “early morning moral victory.” Rosie and Gumbo blazed ahead with 5 mile route around James River HS and circling back…

7 road warriors broke the hold this morning and started their work week off with a few miles, up and down and up and down again…The River Downs Roller Coaster was the order of the day….well, for those of us on time. Vinny miscalculated the time it would take to make it through customs this morning and arrived a minute or so late – just enough time to catch a glimpse of Bleeder’s bright orange shirt, but not close enough to follow the scent.  Nonetheless, Vinny put in some lonely miles around the James River park. Rosie and DeVito took…

YHC arrived this morning to BWES with 2 PAX members already on scene and quickly, 3 more arrived. 6 SOJ men posted this morning to start the week off right and clear the mind, body, and soul with a 4 and 5 mile run. Group for 4 miles and 5 miles given the route and silently 0530 came! Out of BWES and up Twin Team. (Yes, Twin Team has commanded respect within F3 and should not be ignored!) UP Twin Team and R on Ellesmere. Ellesmere to E. Brigstock. 4 milers take a R on E. Brigstock back to Twin…

https://youtu.be/Xf3mRZ7SHu0 According to Phineas and Ferb, there are 104 days of summer.  What a better way to spend the summer than challenging yourself to visit all 24 F3 RVA AOs.  Although procrastinators can wait as late as August 6 to start, it would be best to spread this challenge out over the entire summer.  Once you complete the tour, you will have done the following: 14 bootcamps 7 runs including a trail run and evening run 2 Kettle Bell workouts 1 bike ride Don’t let not having a kettle bell or bike prevent you from participating in this challenge.  Borrow…

2 regulars and a Kotters posted at RiverRun for some early morning fun.  Roads were mainly dry and YHC hadn’t thought much about the route today so we made it simple.  As simple as going up Twin Team to start can be.  Up Twin Team, right on Brigstock – go until the clock hits 23 min, turn around and come back.  This is not much of a negative split since the out includes going up the hill and down coming back. Devito finally succumbed to some of my EHing to get another runner out to RiverRun.  I think seeing him…

The two RiverRun regulars were preparing to depart on a run through the neighborhoods when a vehicle unfamiliar on Mondays rolled into the lot.  Rosco popped out and with a couple instructions on the Tarrington route we headed out. We tried to give Rosco some directions to skip the Ashwell Loop and have us catch up to him but apparently he is too fast for that.  He made it up the hill and back down before YHC had a chance to catch up to him and give the next set of instructions.  YHC and Gumbo split up to make sure…

Rosie cruised into the parking lot around 0525 and YHCs plan to speedwalk for 45 minutes went down the drain.  Instead, YHC called for a little trek through his neighborhood and a couple of short/steep hills to work out some lactic acid from the run-heavy weekend.  Despite the soreness from my inaugural trail run, we managed a decent pace (for me at least) and completed 5.42 miles. Along the way (up the worst hill), YHC was passed by another runner who looked like he was out for a Sunday stroll…”Hey Mike….oh, hey David.”  Yep, in true RVA fashion, the passing runner…

3 River Run Regulars posted with LugNut rolling in right at 0530.  Greeted by sub-40 degree temps once again, it turned out to be a beautiful morning for a run.  Instructions were given…”yes, turn by the dog…” and off we went. General route was up Twin Team (why not right?), add a mile loop through Powderham (Drakewood, Glendower, Ellesmere) and out across Robious and down the Ashwell hill in Tarrington for a great view (as expected) of the cloud cover over the river.  Where was Shakedown when we needed him? As Rosie and I got into Powderham and turned right onto…

2 RiverRun regulars and a SOJ regular hit the hills of Tarrington.  Shakedown has been out to RiverRun once before but didn’t recall much about the route.  He had the joy of the TwinTeam to SOT leg in the CSAUP so we decided to reverse it today and let him go down the hill.  YHC and Gumbo warned Shakedown of the climb up Ashwell, as we approached the roundabout he asked “Is this the hill?”  Yes and no, yes it’s the start but at that point you could only see about one-third of the fun to climb. An inordinate amount…

2 of SOJ’s finest posted this morning to River Run for a little recovery and exploration.  The clock struck 0530 and off we went into Tarrington with 2 goals… move forward for a few miles and try to avoid any major hills.  YHC logged about 4.25 miles while exploring a few new roads.  LugNut did his thing and looked strong at the finish as we came back together. COT, Number-rama, Name-a-rama and a quick prayer from YHC of thankfulness for everyone’s safety through the CSAUP and for the great opportunity we all have to be a part of F3 and…
