Gumbo and his 2.1 and 2.2 (Redbird and Snare) and two 2.0 friends filled up the Gumbo-mobile with Chicken Fiesta and headed to The Daily Planet to “break bread” with the folks there.  We dished out some delicious rotisserie chicken, rice, salad and, of course, some fried Yuca.  It was a great time.  The 2.0s all took orders, served plates of food, and engaged in great conversation. Just like the first time I Q’d Breaking Bread, this is a wonderful opportunity for 2nd F and 3rd F and to meet and share some food and fellowship with some great folks who…

Gents – If you have not been to a Breaking Bread, or if you haven’t been back for a while, consider coming with me and my 2.0s this Sunday. I have the Q for the upcoming Breaking Bread this Sunday, 8/26.  It is a great 2nd/3rd F opportunity from 5:00/5:15 until about 7:30 p.m. at The Daily Planet (180 East Belt Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23234).  We will be preparing/bringing and serving dinner to patients recovering from illness or injury or surgery in the Medical Respite Program.  I’m looking for a couple volunteers to attend with me and help out. Not sure…

The following showed up for Breaking Bread this evening:  Kubota (and his 2.0 Husky), Mr. Roper (and his 2.0 Charlie), and YHC (2 out of 3 of my 2.0’s = Ellie and Charlie). We had the honor of serving some bbq and fixings to a group of Richmond’s less fortunate this evening, what a great experience.  YHC enjoys exposing his 2.0’s to these experiences as often as possible…. Needless to say, YHC’s daughter (Ellie, 7 years old) and son (Charlie, 5 years old) had lots of questions about the wonderful folks we were able to serve, what a great learning experience for them.  It was fun…

YHC along with Oyster and Spike visited the Medical Respite this evening and had a bit of fellowship and faith with some of the less fortunate among us in RVA.  There were eight wonderful people there that we blessed and fed a meal of BBQ (beef and pork), coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, dessert and beverages.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and we had great conversations with them.  YHC’s 2.0 asked him if he could go help, but due to age restrictions, he could not.  I’m just glad that my 5 year old son knew that I was going to help feed some…

Two F3RVA regulars and YHCs M spent a Sunday evening in fellowship with some football fans.  YHC prepared enough lasagna, salad, and garlic bread to feed many.  LabRat provided some tea and we were ready to have a Sunday Dinner (my favorite meal of the week) with some new friends.  Unfortunately, LabRat has some issues at the house and could not attend but the tea was still delivered to YHC residence.  (Thanks LR).  As we arrived, we were informed there were not many guests at Breaking Bread this week, but the ones that were their were very appreciative of the…

Gumbo and his 2.0s (Redbird and Snare), a Redibrd classmate, EF Hutton and Hardywod had the great privilege of breaking bread tonight with 8 great folks tonight at The Daily Planet’s Medical Respite Center.  Following in the footsteps of his father, YHC ordered up WAY too much food, but its all good as we left and entire pan of baked spaghetti and meat sauce (probably 3-4 pounds) for the residents to enjoy for another meal. We enjoyed some great fellowship and conversation with the residents and I hope brought a few smiles to their faces.  These are some great folks, and…

Gents, I have the Q for the upcoming Breaking Bread 2nd/3rd F opportunity on Sunday, August 27 from 5:15 until about 7:30 p.m. at The Daily Planet (180 East Belt Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23234).  We will be preparing and serving dinner to patients recovering from illness or injury or surgery in the Medical Respite Program. I’m looking for 3-4 volunteers to attend with me and help out.  Let me know if you plan to bring your 2.0.  They recommend that any 2.0s be at least 10 years old and they ask that we not bring more than 10 people total. I will…

I need that special High-Impact Man that can rally up a couple buddies to go give away what has been given to him in Charlottesville this Saturday at 0700.  Bodo’s afterwards with the fellas.  If you are willing to step up and BE AVAILABLE, contact me directly: 804-263-3570. Thanks for considering, Lab Rat
