The Old Ball and 20′ Logging Chain

8

11 hardy veterans from the Gloom showed up to greet the early morning and enjoy a VQ beatdown and some fellowship.

As this was YHC’s first actual Q, mistake number 1 was to ask the PAX if they where ready to mossy? Mumble chatter about how “this is your Q Doozy” and “I don’t know, what do you want to do” were heard throughout the AO. The PAX did give in and did a (Rosie) Mossy to a spot in front of the school, from there this is what went down.

(12) SSH
(12) Don Quixote’s
(12) Wind Mills or as everyone else informed YHC Helicopters (but Wilson said “you be you Doozy” so Wind Mills they stayed

My cadence was disrupted a few times by the silly person talking inside my head but once I had a word with him, things got straightened out

Mossy another 20 yards line up on the curb

Bear Crawl to the other Curb (12) Merkins Bear Crawl back (12) Merkins
Repeto – with Crawl Bear
Repeto – Crab Walk

Mossy to bus parking lot to find (10) bus parking spaces with exercises written out in chalk at each parking space (we had 11 warriors this morning so an 11th spot was added to allow every warrior their own spot). As it is YHC’s (48) birthday today 4+8=12 all exercises = 12 count, complete the exercise in your space run a lap around the school move to the next space complete that exercise repeto for all spaces. Space 5 reserved for the ball or chain, I had a 20’ logging chain in my truck (doesn’t everyone?) and a dodge ball that the dog popped, now filled with sand and covered in duct tape. Take either ball or chain and run around the school (extra credit if you could carry both) I don’t think anyone attempted it.

  1. American Hammers
  2. Merkins
  3. LBC’s
  4. Ball Dippers
  5. Run with ball or chain
  6. Box Cutters
  7. Carolina Dry Docks
  8. WWII
  9. Squat Jumps
  10. Heals to Heaven
  11. Burpees

Time was called finish where you are, mossy back to the flag. 2 minutes remaining finish out with various forms of the plank position.

Number-rama, Name-a-rama and YHC take us out

Announcements: The Forge #Dos happening tomorrow – Good times to be had

NMS:

“I do not intend to offend; I offend with my intent” – only 80’s metal heads will know what song that is from. My intent was not to run as much as the day prior because of Old Glory but I can’t help it it’s in my DNA. Wilson was more than happy to hear that we would run around the school after each exercise which someone mentioned put us right around 4 +/- miles for the morning. It was either that or run around the track and I thought the track was a farther run (my Garman is broke). As usual Rosie and Tobit lead the way and everyone worked on what they could.

Well done team and thank you for helping me start my birthday in a positive, fun, rewarding way

P.S. Senility must be setting in because I did call out 47 during the Name-a-rama

  1. I have never added a Backblast to the Dashboard but once I got a few things worked through it wasn’t too hard to figure out.

  2. Excellent VQ, Doozy! The ball and chain/labeled parking spots was not something I have seen before – very creative.
As a side note, the logging chain you keep in your vehicle is perfectly SOJ.

  3. Döner Kebab on

Great VQ, Doozy!! Glad you experienced a similar workout in Ft. Mill and brought it back to share with f3RVA. If you had a guy in your head talking during your cadence, we never would have known. The PAX is pretty supportive of it’s Q, unless your F3 name starts with “W” and ends with “ilson”….or starts with “C” and ends with “at Burglar” (think 750 squat jumps). Can’t wait to see what you share next!

  4. Great VQ Doozy and Happy Birthday brother. Its great having you in the PAX.

The Old Ball (I didn’t choose the chain) was a buster for sure. About half-way around the school, I wanted to chuck it in the dumpster and return in silent ignorance, but I didn’t want to deny future PAX members of the joy of carrying that thing in case you bring it back out again.

I have to say, your version of the curb crawl was intense. I could barely do a merkin by the end and my crab walk was more like a drag-ass.

    Well done!

  5. Nicely done Doozy…great VQ!

Glad that Old Glory yesterday did not deter you from a running heavy beatdown this morning. Although, I do wish Gumbo would’ve chucked the ball into the dumpster on his turn…that bordered on brutal.

    And Happy Birthday!

  6. I ran with the Chain and it was for sure brutal. Both the ball and chain are close in weight, 6 in one, half dozen in the other. Pick your poison.

  7. Great VQ Doozy. Play to your strength with the running. A little ground and pound tease with the curb crawls got the hurt going early. As Wilson said, the Q only needs to know how to count to 3. Loved to see Breaker back out too, respect.

  8. Doozy – you are a born runner and really good at it, but Beaker & I were more than elated to see the logging chain (that you just happen to have in the back of your truck???) slow you down to a mortal speed of walking. There was no way I would be grabbing either ball or chain (have both permanately attached). The other fellas were doing great with it. And the loop around that school is………………that was tough and i believe longer than Timberwolf! That was a really creative Q and I will be using a part of it soon! Always great to see Sysco delivering green beans.
