Bootleg’s Lost Tracks

11

Ten Road Scholars showed up for this week’s Spider Run.

We ran the Honaker routes.  Up the main entrance and take Campus/Towana to the access road by Three Chopt.  Left on Grove.  4s turn left on Maple, 5s on Wilton (then left on Dillwyn, right on Seneca), and 6s on Wisteria.  Everyone takes Patterson west to Honaker.  Honaker across Three Chopt and down Boatwright.  Past the Robin’s Center, cut across the parking lot and down the lake.  4s and 6s take a left to the VSF and 5s take a right to go around the lake to the VSF.

Wedding Singer took us out.

NMS:

Pre-run, TYA went into CSAUP recruitment mode, enlisting Dutch and Bootleg for Team RP.  YHC got a hard commit from Taxi Cab for a West End team.  These week’s of training are paying off and he is getting ready.

Bootleg was lost in his tracks somewhere on the route.  The Pax sent a search party out for him afterwards.  Little did Bootleg know when he signed up for Team RP, that it came with TYA’s “lost runner insurance”.  He will cover the ends of the earth to keep his team fit for race day.  Hopefully, he will turn up.

Time to Taper,

Great job guys … Glad to see Bootleg out at Spider run – even though he got lost… Don;t worry about it Bootleg it’s easy to get lost over there whether your running on campus or not…
    See y’all in the gloom..

  2. Westhampton was pumping out great smells of baked goods along the route today. It could have been too enticing.

  3. I eventually turned up. Apparently Maple comes up BEFORE Libbie…

I got a few extra miles in. I’ll never concede to being “lost”. You all might have lost me but I knew where I was 😉

Thanks to TYA and Sippy. Humor aside, in retrospect I should have turned back at 2 miles and retraced rather than trying to get back on the course. I’ll never forget where Maple is that’s for sure. Lesson learned.

An arm holster for my phone was already on order. Arrives today!

  4. Way to stick with it Bootleg and it’s great to have you part of the Spider run. As I ran along Grove I had briefly pondered doubling-back to ensure you were comfortable with the route, but I then got distracted by a passing female runner and it slipped my mind ; )

Thanks to BT for pulling me along on the 5m route…Saab did not want to abide today.

  5. Way to persevere, Bootleg! And the rarity of getting to run with Saab was an unexpected bonus. Enjoyed it, brother!
