Betty Weaver Elementary

4 SOJ regulars posted to River Run for a YHC Q. Thankfully no rain! 5 mile and 4 mile routes were simple out and back route. Both routes up Twin Team and R on East Brigstock Road. 4 miler ran to Kentford and back to Betty Weaver. 5 milers ran to Netherfield and back to Betty Weaver. Number-ama, Name-r-ama, Announcements = 0. YHC took us out. NMS- Mr. Holland, Lug Nut, Mr. Roper, great to see you men this morning  Mr Roper took us down memory road this morning by reminiscing about his time at Randolph Macon and recent trip to…

YHC pulled into BWES at 0513 in the pouring rain and sat “eagerly” awaiting more PAX members.  A car pulled in.  Looked like a Bleeder mobile but it  headed straight for Gumbo’s second home…the small green building.  Honestly, YHC thought for a minute, “well, maybe it is just a super eager teacher who had to go sooo bad that he/she couldn’t even make it inside.  It couldn’t be another PAX member.” Not so fast, it was Bleeder and he was ready to roll.  0530…BOOM.  2 beasts without regard for sanity or safety posted to River Run and literally ran through…

9 runners posted for River Run this morning to take on the headwinds and start their week of right.  YHC feeling the after effects of running 12 miles yesterday, wanted deeply to run 1 mile and head for coffee, but that urge was resisted and instead a nice easy BROCODE run was called – around by the high school, across through River Downs South and then River Downs North.  Total mileage varied depending on circling back efforts but somewhere between 4 and 4.8 miles covered at a moderate pace with plenty of conversation and, unfortunately, one turned ankle…sorry Slumlord, hope…

The answer, of course…ROSIE. 5 brave SOJers arose from the warmth of the sack this morning and braved the sub-40 degree temps (I mean, 70 and sunny, of course).  YHC called out the River Downs Roller Coaster with a bro-code twist – the rabbit (ROSIE) would double back for the six every 3-4 minutes and each PAX member would double-back with Rosie when passed, pick up the six and continue on.  Well damn near the top of the Queens Grant hill (a big one), what does YHC see but a headlamp coming back at him…OH SHIT, I thought.  You mean…

6 men arose from the slumber to ward off a case of Mundays and to log a few miles.  YHC wanted to test out the new sidewalk on the southside of Robious Rd.  The plan was as follows: Left out of BWES and circle around by JRHS to Robious Rd.  Right on the Northside sidewalk heading West and first right into River Downs North.  Loop around (with a slight left near the park and a left onto Lennox Forest) back to Robious Rd and across to the Southside.  Then the fun begins…first right, first left, first right  to get onto…

4 men broke the hold on this Columbus Day/Indigenous People Day holiday Monday morning to start the work-week off right…with some miles.  The traditional Tarrington route was called and off we went with Shakedown and McFly leading the way.  It was dense and foggy in patches.  Overall it was a slog but everyone pushed through.  Well done guys. Great to have Wheelbarrow back out and looking to get back into the routine.   Well done brother. COT, Number-rama, Name-a-rama and YHC took us out. Announcements: CSAUP 10/20 – road, trail, foot, bike – come get some miles in any way you…

4 River Run regulars (now that Sugar Sock is a Monday regular!) posted to BWES to log some miles.  A simple 4-mile out and back route was called by YHC with the 5s and 6s adding mileage at the JRHS track as desired or as time would allow. Great morning for a run.  Unfortunately, YHC caught a case of the J-villes and had to veer off course and make a pit stop….Fortunately, the mid-way point of the course was .2 miles from YHC abode, so comfort was not far away. YHC has heard the saying that the aftershocks are worse…

4 SOJ vets and a Kotters by McFly gave us a 5-pack PAX for this morning’s River Run.  Cool temps, low humidity and a light drizzle made for great conditions…just try to avoid the many puddles along the route. 4-milers – head straight up Twin Team (YAY!) and into Powderham via Cawood.  Right on Drakewood, Left on Glendower.  Continue on Glendower until it turns into Bosham and then into Drakewood.  Right on Ellesmere out to Robious.  Cross Robious into Tarrington and head downhill on Ashwell past the poolhouse.  Left on Sherfield.  Left on Welby.  Right on Riverton Ridge. Left on…

4 PAX posted to River Run this morning to see what Gumbo had in store and it was an extra thick roux we had to run through this morning as the humidity was a million %.  Add in some headwinds and a little steady drizzle and it was a little soupy this morning, but that could not stop this foursome from logging some miles. Traditional Tarrington route was called.  Rosie lit up his new shoe-lights and led the way.  We mostly stuck together for the first couple miles, then Rosie pulled away from me and Shakedown up the long Ashwell…

3 determined PAX posted at River Run this morning to log some miles and see what YHC had planned.  As Rosie accurately guessed yesterday, YHC signed up for the Richmond half-marathon recently and so YHC locked down the River Run Q between now and November 10 (Race Day).  Today’s plan was to generally avoid Twin Team and Ashwell hills and just log some easy miles.  So it was a 2.2-mile loop down to the river and around the high school that resembles big dipper a bit.  Do it twice and, if time allows, add some extra to get to  5…
