The walkers and runners put in some work at off the books on Mother’s Day. Forgot who was there as most rushed home as soon as possible. I guess they all live at home with their mothers. Aisle 5 and YHC stayed and enjoyed some coffee and 2ndF knowing no one wakes up before 10am on Sunday even on Mother’s Day. Plenty of time until Brunch boys! YHC didn’t realize the backblast from 5/17 was still in draft. BigData said send it!Let me know if I missed you Oyster

4 road warriors met at Shiplock Park downtown for the first iteration of the Century ride training team. Objective is to ultimately do a century (100 mile) ride to Williamsburg and back later this year. We rode east along the Capital Trail until we decided it was time to turn around and ride back. Summary stats for the ride: 33.8 miles in 2 hours 20 mins. Avg pace was 14.5 mph. The name for this OTB workout was inspired by Whittler’s bloody knuckles that he displayed upon posting. Apparently a concrete wall outside his domicile upset him so he decided…

Trying to mix up the workouts a bit. The back to back days of bootcamps has been beating me up. I got some advice from Mr. Rogers this Saturday at DogPile about mixing running between bootcamp days. Thought about it a bit and texted P.O.G last night (who is usually down for a run). Met at corner of Willowmore and Amethyst this morning at 5:30 sharp. We put in a good 5.25 mile run, slightly above 8:30 mile pace. Good run. I missed that post run high. Probably going to mix in more running here. Body needs the cross training.…

YHC dusted off the sneakers and joined Don Draper and Boberry for a run. Perfect morning and YHC was happy to be out with this group of fine gents once again. 6 miles in total. Aisle 5 took the opportunity to educate Wilson on the benefits of VFD’s in the pulp and paper industry on their walk. Everybody wins today.

Unfortunately, most of the usual OTB suspects were out this morning. To get in today’s required training mileage of 14, YHC met Draper at 530 to get things started a little early. A quick(ish) 3 mile loop brought us back to Starbucks by 6 to pick up Rosie, who was looking for the usual 6-7 OTB mileage. Another loop and 7 miles later brought us back to Starbucks. YHC was expecting to bid farewell to Rosie at this point, but when it was revealed that the final loop was just 4 more miles, he was feeling good and all in.…

One walker and four runners hit the mean streets of Midlothian for this week’s edition of OTB. Gumbo rolled in looking for a porta-john and seeing none decided to desecrate Starbucks before the baristas knew what hit them. Feeling the weight of last night’s dinner off of him, we were off. Runners got in a well paced 6.5 before returning to Starbucks. YHC and Draper took off again for an additional 4.5 to hit this week’s training target of 11. Not sure of Nancy’s route although we did encounter him along Coalfield. Regardless, Nancy got it done. Safe journey for…

Well, YHC said F Daylight Savings Time and posted to OTB. DST and travel wiped out the rest of the PAX. No problem. I get to dictate the pace and do my own thing…great. I got off to a good start with a 9:30 first mile, but then all went to shit when two negative splits lead to an internal challenge to have 5 negative splits. And an 8:17 sixth mile completed the challenge. So much for controlling the pace and an easy 6. Wonderful sunrise on the way back across the river. A great morning!

Three walkers and six runners met up this morning to get it done. To help Honeymoon prepare for his upcoming Palmetto relay, runners clocked in a little more than 9 miles with a Gumbo curated route through Salisbury and Powderham. Boberry started his morning at 5am in order to get in the nine and still hit up early church…strong work Bo! 2nd F followed at Starbucks. Enjoy your Sunday fellas!
