If you are us, what number are we thinking of?

22

28 Time-traveler PAX ventured back 30 years (and even futher) to celebrate the classic cinema of Bill & Ted and manage in a beatdown along the way. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion Kics. Head to other circle for:

Strange Things are afoot at the Circle K: 69 Burpees broken up into 3 sets of 23. Head down to Amphitheater to pick up first time traveler: Socrates by doing 4 Box Jumps and 10 V-Ups each step to the top.

Mosey to the Waterloo bowl for some Napoleons ladder. 5 times run hill then 18 Merkins. Then 30 Decline WW-II Situps.

Head down to the Iron Maiden – Travel to 15th century England and complete 3 sets of: 5 Pull-Ups and 10 Dips. Then head back to field to pick up remaining characters: Freund (Hardywood) APDs, Gengis Khan (Handshake) 30 HRMs, Joan of Arc (Opus) 30 Smurf Jacks, then finish with Lincoln (EF Hutton) 30 Monkey Humpers.

Back to Flag, YHC took us out.

NMS – YHC had been wanting to spring another Theme Q for a while and then a conversation with Sippy Cup while rucking a few weeks ago reminded me of this film YHC loved as a kid. A quick check found out Bill & Ted debuted 30 years ago this weekend.

The 69 Burpees was what the PAX came out for and everyone knocked it out easily. The Socrates (SO-crates) 4 -10 took a while but the real fun was the WWII on the hill. Lots of dizziness and a few PAX flipped over.

Hardywood made YHC proud by nailing the exercise choice for Freund of APDs. Then Handsake upped it with 30 HRMs, ouch. EF Hutton and Opus chose wisely for their called upon exercises.

Kubota in doing research on YHCs hints for this Q found out several other classic movies came out this month 30 years ago, Major League, etc. Reminder a theme Q only requires some minor creativity and willingness to look potentially foolish. Thanks as always for undulging YHC, and remember to do as Bill & Ted say: Be Excellent to each other!

  1. Great Q Honey Do!! Decided I need to get a VQ in before the baby gets here.. Monday @ Hoedown – come get some!!

  2. Man this looks like it was fantastic! Sorry to have missed, I was on my way there and started not feeling well – body still recovering from being sick earlier this week. These HDthemed workouts should happen more frequently!

  3. Well done, HoneyDo. 69 burpees will make a man out of anyone. As will 30 HRMs.

Thanks to all the boys who dragged me on the EC this morning. Nice way to start the day.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. Fun times Honeydo. I think we forgot to pick up Billy the Kid and Beethoven along the way. We can grab them in the sequel Honeydo’s Bogus Journey.

Oh man, Major League is one the greatest. So quotable. “You may run like Mays, but you hit like sh*t.”

  5. Good times this morning! From 0500 to 0830, nonstop action and fun. Upchuck scared a girl on the curb on the run back ??‍♂️??

  6. “It is indeed a pleasure to introduce to you a gentleman we picked up in Medieval Mongolia in the year 1269 (who then introduced us to HR Merkins).”

Great Q Honeydo. Next time give us a heads up and we’ll tie flannels around our waists. Hardywood may be on to something for the week of Vinny, and an all Mel Brooks movie theme.

  7. Theme Qs work best at Dogpile. Happy to oblige with more themes but always looking for new PAX to take the theme challenge on.

  8. My summary…person stares from across the street at 8 guys running with American flags. Person looks quizzical and somewhat perturbed. Your’s truly, with years of experience starting conversations with random people in the world, attempts to be pleasant and disarming. A smile, a conversation, some confidence, and another smile works almost everywhere I have ever been. That said…

It’s good to remember that 90% of the people in this world are good, open, caring people. 10% of the people just don’t get it. In this case, I believe she is someone who tells herself and others that she is an open minded person who believes in the diversity of mankind. That is, until she sees 8 dudes running at 7 a.m. with American flags, and she can’t wrap her head around the diversity of mankind.

  9. Uh, young buck, you have touched an F3RVA nerve. Woe to he who tempts HoneyDo to Q a workout that includes flannel shirts. That dude did Q that once…I’m still suffering the effects of dehydration from that day.

  10. Upchuck, sounds to me like a typical case of “Some people don’t deserve the explanation they didn’t want to begin with.”

  11. Great, now I’m going to have to watch Major League, I can’t stop thinking about all the quotes that movie. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s appropriate for my 10 year old baseball player to watch with me.

  12. I know I am committing heresy when I say this but… I am struggling to decide which was more difficult to get through…your highly inspired beatdown today, or my first (and last) viewing of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure…

Separately, just watched and inspiring and emotional documentary on Fred Rogers. In his own way and words, he really did want us all to be ‘most-excellent’ to one another.

  13. I’m not sure which is tougher, getting through a Dogpile beatdown or getting through the rest of the day without a nap. I’m exhausted! I can’t let the M know how tired I am….
