Redskins, Bernie Sanders, and Serious Humidity

13

15 warriors resisted the fart sack  this morning and posted for a great start to the week.  Here’s how it went down:

9 Burpees = represents the number of points the Skins scored yesterday while being defeated.

COP:

Side Straddle Hop

Copperhead Squats

Merkins

LBC’s

Flutter Kicks

Thang:

Quick lap around the neighborhood and back to the parking lot hill (going up to the blacktop).  Taking a page out of EF Hutton’s playbook we did the following:

Partner up:  Partner 1 does Bernie Sanders (Run backwards up, and run forward back down) 3 times while P2 performs Merkins and Burpees.  Then switch, until each team completes 100 merkins and 100 burpees together….

Mosey to the Top of Lindsay for the following:

-Pax Sprints down Lindsay all the way to the bottom, then partner up.  Partner carry all the way back up Lindsay….. Each time that partners switched during the carry, each man performed a set of booyah merkins…Once reaching the top of Lindsay, each man performed 3 sets of 20 partner leg tosses….

Rinse and Repeat…

-9 More Redskins related Burpees….

Mosey back to the flag for Ring of Fire and Cot (Gomer Pyle took us out)….

NMS:

The humidity continued to be thick this morning in the RVA…. Mumblechatter was pretty light prior to 5:30 a.m., however, YHC learned from Honeydo that the skins lost and only scored 9 points yesterday.  Last Monday, Honeydo incorporated some Redskins statistical facts into our workout so I followed suit.

Upon YHC’s announcement of the Bernie Sanders exercise sequence, the PAX seemed almost universally unhappy with the number of Merkins and Burpees proposed….  Nonetheless we powered through….great work fellas!

Finally, Lindsay proved to be pretty difficult, particularly given the humidity levels.  That didn’t stop some PAX members from crushing it!  Also for the record, YHC hopes to never get in an official foot race of any kind with Splinter….As we sprinted down Lindsay, that dude reminded me of Justify rounding the turn for home in the Belmont Stakes… He was lightning fast while making it look like a stroll in the park….My short legs need to grow about 3 more feet to even stand a chance….Nice work Splinter!

Great to partner with EF Hutton and Handshake today….Have a great Monday!

Announcements: 4 year anniversary convergence at Dogpile. Followed by a cross country scoring event or a FNG friendly bootcamp, both at 7:05. Cookout to follow. CSAUP on 10/20 at Forest Hill Park – 7:00 a.m. start. Puppypile on 9/29.

Breaking Bread this Sunday Evening (5 or 6 p.m.).  Let me know if you’d like to join, I’ll be taking 2 of my 3 2.0’s….

  1. Nice Q, Slurpee! Tough one. Great partner work Pucker and Fudd! I had a good head start on Splinter on the last sprint down the hill, o my to see him blow by me halfway down.

  2. Always nice to get a week’s worth of burpees in before 7 am Monday morning. Thanks to Fireman Ed for carrying me on the 100 partner burpees.

  3. If you believe that height has anything to do with speed, do yourself a solid and never run next to Sippy Cup. You will be forced into thinking up a new theory!

Also, give me a call on Breaking Bread this week, Slurpee. I’ll get you on the right track. Hopefully, you will find a HIM or two in the pax to provide assistance. 263-3570

  4. I might want to rip that page out of the playbook and the Redskins definitely need to rip everything they called out of the playbook yesterday.

    Solid Q Slurpee.

  5. Heck of a beatdown this AM Slurpee. What Slurpee didn’t disclose is we were both still sweating at the bus stop 45 minutes later.

Hey, you said sprint so I sprinted.

  6. Lots of groans for the 100 partner Burpees. Glad to be partnered up with Slurpee and EF Hutton.

To follow up on what Splinter said, my wife even remarked how sweaty I was 30 minutes after I got home…

  7. Happy to help HoneyDo. Fudd did a nice job handling 2/3 of the partner carry the 2nd time. So much for the “fireman” part today.

  8. Nice beatdown Slupee! I was convinced there would be a third round and the PAX were ready.

Great partner work Splinter especially that last hill carry. Solid Hoo-ahh, Ranger!

The sprinting was a glorious thing to behold.

I have it on good authority that giraffes run faster that any human, so… there you go. 😉

    for you trivia buffs
Giraffes have slightly elongated forelegs, about 10% longer than their hind legs. The pace of the giraffe is an amble, though when pursued it can run extremely fast, up to 55 km/h. It cannot sustain a lengthy chase. Its leg length compels an unusual gait with the left legs moving together followed by right (similar to pacing) at low speed, and the back legs crossing outside the front at high speed. When hunting adult giraffes, lions try to knock the lanky animal off its feet and pull it down. Giraffes are difficult and dangerous prey. The giraffe defends itself with a powerful kick. A single well-placed kick from an adult giraffe can shatter a lion’s skull or break its spine. Lions are the only predators which pose a serious threat to an adult giraffe. http://www.speedofanimals.com/animals/giraffe

Grizzly bears are faster than Brown bears… who knew?

  9. Thanks for the info on the biomechanics of giraffes running GP, and thanks for the solid beat down Slurpee. Enjoyed partnering with Kubota and Fireman Ed.

Knowing I did not have to hit the road north immediately following the workout, I’m not ashamed to admit I got back in the fart sack upon arriving home, after I stopped sweating, for a much needed power nap. That’s a first for me after a Hoedown. Good on ya Slurpee.

  10. Thanks, Fudd… I fell asleep at my desk before the tornados hit and my eventual trip north as well…
